Fwd: [insmi.dispositifs.international] AAP MITI Thèses internationales dans les IRL - MITI Call for International PhDs in the IRLs
by Pascal Weil 16 Mar '26

16 Mar '26
Dear All, Another great opportunity for ReLaX. You will see the details below (in French and, below, in English). Roughly: - call for international PhD fellowships provided by CNRS - start of the fellowship: September 2026 (duration: 3 yrs) - the PhD student would be registered in France, with an adviser in a lab in France - a connection with an IRL (ReLaX in our case!) is required, see explanation of what that means in the email below - this connection certainly requires discussing the project with the Direction of ReLaX The email below comes from the Mathematics Division of CNRS (INSMI), and is written in terms of projects involving maths labs in France. But the call originates from CNRS itself and concerns all the Divisions of CNRS, including the Computer Science Division (INS2I). I just don't yet have the details for INS2I projects (the address where to send the applications). I will pass it on to you as soon as I get it. In the meantime, just assume that the timeline is exactly the same as for Maths, and discuss your project with the Direction of ReLaX. ReLaX has had some success with this call in the past, so it's definitely worth the effort to apply. With best regards, Pascal PS - If you are in India and don't know whether your project falls in Maths or in CS, the decision is 'technical': whether the lab in France is under INS2I (CS) or INSMI (maths) > Début du message réexpédié : > > De: MONTIBELLER Céline <celine.montibeller(a)cnrs.fr> > Objet: [insmi.dispositifs.international] AAP MITI Thèses internationales dans les IRL - MITI Call for International PhDs in the IRLs > Date: 2 mars 2026 à 20:13:54 UTC+7 > À: "insmi.dispositifs.international(a)listes.math.cnrs.fr" <insmi.dispositifs.international(a)listes.math.cnrs.fr> > Cc: INSMI International <insmi.international(a)cnrs.fr>, BOSCAIN Ugo Vittorio <ugo-vittorio.boscain(a)cnrs.fr> > Répondre à: <insmi.international(a)cnrs.fr> > > (message translated in English below) > > Objet : AAP MITI Thèses internationales dans les IRL > > Chères toutes, chers tous, > > Je vous écris en tant que relai vers les collègues d’un AAP pour des bourses de thèse, dites « Thèses internationales », que nous venons de recevoir. > > > Bien à vous, > > Céline > > Céline Montibeller > Europe & International > CNRS Mathématiques - Insmi > celine.montibeller(a)cnrs.fr <mailto:celine.montibeller@cnrs.fr> > https://www.insmi.cnrs.fr/fr > > > Object : MITI Call for International PhDs in the IRLs > > Dear all, > > I'm contacting you as contact for relaying Calls to the people involved in your IRL. > > Like last year, CNRS Mathematics may be able to benefit from some CNRS funding for a small number of CNRS international PhD bursaries (linked to the IRLs), coordinated by the Mission for Transversal and Interdisciplinary Initiatives (MITI) starting in September 2026 for 3 years. All 10 CNRS institutes can send proposals and they have until the end of March to do so. > > Note that, although managed by the MITI, it is possible for teams to propose topics that are not necessarily interdisciplinary. > > Description: this funding must be for a doctoral student registered in France, with a PhD supervisor based at a French lab (UMR or lab linked to a Federation FR). There must be a link with an IRL, which may be via a co-supervision or simply the identification of a partner in the IRL in the subject area of the thesis, who would be willing to host the doctoral student for a period of at least 3 months during the course of the PhD (this takes place through short stays each year). > > Roles assigned: CNRS funds the doctoral contracts. These will be generally managed by the MITI but drawn up by the regional delegations of CNRS. Our division CNRS Mathematics (Insmi) is responsible for adding funds to support the compulsory mobility aspect via a dedicated sum paid to the laboratory of the PhD supervisor (around €4k per year to be used in that year). > > Application: It is pretty simple and must include: > - a brief CV / resume of the PhD supervisor in France and an indication of his/her links with the IRL > - the PhD project, to be explained in the document “TheseInternationale2025_nomcandidat.odt” in PJ, updating the “nomcandidat” (please put the name of the PhD supervisor). Please remember to put an acronym and a full title for the project. > - the name of the person in the IRL who would be a partner, his/her CV/resume and his/her role (co-supervisor or partner). > - if already identified, the name and brief CV of the prospective PhD candidate. > > As relay, these are the tasks for you: > 1) Rapidly circulate the information to potentially-interested parties, asking them to send you their applications (word file projects and CVs). > 2) Fill in the information on the attached excel form “Tableau-information-theses-MITI(2).ods” for all applications you receive, by ranking order. > 3) Return the excel form, full projects and CVs to insmi.international(a)cnrs.fr <mailto:insmi.international@cnrs.fr> by 22 March 2026 by replying to this message. This is for us to have time to do the final ranking and arbitration by CNRS Mathematics beforeforwarding it to MITI. > > Best regards, > > Céline > > Céline Montibeller > Europe & International Manager > CNRS Mathematics - Insmi > celine.montibeller(a)cnrs.fr <mailto:celine.montibeller@cnrs.fr> > https://www.insmi.cnrs.fr/fr ================== Pascal Weil <https://lipn.univ-paris13.fr/~pascal.weil/> ReLaX <https://relax.lmf.cnrs.fr/>, CNRS IRL 2000 deputy director relax.direction(a)cnrs.fr <mailto:relax.direction@cnrs.fr> +91 98 4009 0451 +33 6 48 60 40 86 Please do not use my @u-bordeaux.fr and @labri.fr addresses anymore. India-France (ANR-DST) call for proposals in Applied Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence
by Pascal Weil 03 Mar '26

03 Mar '26
Dear All, I wrote to you about 4 weeks ago about an upcoming DST-ANR call for projects joining AI and Applied Mathematics. The call is not officially open. Full details below (a link to the ANR and another to the DST), but to summarize: - the deadline is April 20, 2026; - many research topics represented in this mailing list can actually find an anchoring in this call for project; - according to the call for projects (if I understand it correctly), it is not a call for projects on uses of AI. I strongly encourage you to think about this call (which may not be repeated a 2nd year), contact your favorite Indian/French partners, and come up with a great project! With best regards, Pascal ====================== Dear Colleagues, We are pleased to inform you that the French National Research Agency (ANR), France and the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India has launched an Franco-Indian call for joint research and innovation project proposals in "Applied Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence” 2026. The aim of the Franco-Indian call for proposals is to strengthen Franco-Indian cooperation on topics combining Applied Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence: Artificial Intelligence in the service of Applied Mathematics, but also Mathematics as science for Artificial Intelligence.
