I work in Combinatorics, in connection with exactly-solvable models of Critical Phenomena in Statistical Mechanics.

Before working here, I have been undergrad and PhD student in Pisa University and Scuola Normale Superiore, and PostDoc and Researcher in Milan University, working mainly with Sergio Caracciolo.

One day I'll list them back here, thematically sorted, with some explanation and links to the gallery. In the meanwhile, you can just use the ArXiv search engine.

Present position:

I am a CNRS researcher, at LIPN, Université Paris Nord, Villetaneuse, in Section 06 (Theoretical Computer Science).

Research subjects:

I work in fields at the interface between Combinatorics, Statistical Physics, Discrete Mathematics and Probability. The goal of my research is to understand the relevant statistical properties of large random structures, especially in systems which present critical phenomena.

Profile:

Italian. Born in Siracusa, on March 24th 1978.

Undergraduate (1996-2000) at Pisa University and Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa.

PhD (2000-2003) at Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa. Advisor: Prof. S. Caracciolo. Within this period, I spent 6 months at Ecole Normale Supérieure (LPT-ENS)

From November 2003 to February 2011 I had PostDoc positions, mostly in Milan University, Theoretical Physics division, with shorter visiting periods in New York University (physics dept.), 4 months; Oxford University (R.Peierls) 6 months; Université Orsay Paris-Sud (LPTMS) 3 months and Université Paris-Nord (LIPN) 7 months.

From March 2011 to October 2012, I have been researcher at Milan University.

From November 2012 up to present, I am researcher at CNRS, in LIPN, Université Paris Nord, Villetaneuse.

Coming here in Paris Nord, with public transportation, is slightly challenging, so a few directions are in order.

There are two main ways to access the campus from Paris:

Direction 1: if you come from everywhere in Paris except for the North-Western part

In this case, you shall reach Gare du Nord, take a Transilien H train which stops in Epinay-Villetaneuse (most trains do). Once in Epinay-Villetaneuse, go out from the main exit (the one on the side of the historical 19th-century train station), named Villetaneuse-Montmagny. On your right, you see a parking lot with a few bus stops. Take a Bus 156, which is the University shuttle service (starts from the station, reaches the entrance of the campus). You will be entering the campus from the Entrée 1 on the map.

By the way, if you are in Gare de Lyon, you can consider instead a different route: take a RER D up to St Denis Gare, go out of the station, from the main exit (again, on the side of the historical 19th-century train station), cross the walking bridge on the canal, then take a Tram 8 and continue as described below in [2].

Direction 2: if you come from the North-Western part of Paris

In this case, you might prefer to take Metro 13 up to the St Denis Porte de Paris station, and take a Tram 8 there. The metro station is terminus. The line forks, and you shall take a Villetaneuse tram (not an Epinay one). The campus is at the end of the line. You will be entering the campus from the Entrée 2 on the map.

Printable maps and directions are (WILL BE...) here, while the map of the campus is here.
