off to the kindergarten valentine's day party my problem, dear anne, is that it is 2009. kids don't like to get all fussied up anymore, and i don't think they would go to the trouble of making up stories about lost broaches to be able to go to a silly church picnic. in my mind the little girls are wearing spring dresses and holding parasols with their gloved hands while the boys are eating biscuits and drinking homemade rootbeer with their hats and suspenders on. but i live in a dreamland where i want everything stylized. i know you understand me, anne. do you have to be obsessed with yarn and needles and hooks like i am to think that is the most inviting little space you've ever seen? with that, here's the stuff i eat: salad with chicken, a different salad with chicken, repeat, repeat. this is the hard thing about it. not a ton of delicious options. i'm kind of kidding, i've found a few other yummy things, too: grant and i listened and danced to his music on valentine's day. and the dishes she cleans for me!! i don't even have to rinse before putting things in the dishwasher anymore! and how warm she keeps my toesies while i'm sitting at the desk working on the computer! who needs slippers? it seems her only desire in life is to be close to us. and all she asks for is an occasional pet and some food and water. truly, my lowest maintenance friend. my room is clean and i'm knitting. and then i realized. i love her. so much. wop valentine's day preparations plan to be surprised. all kits are shipped. phew. i have been laying in bed sick since monday. it seems to be getting worse by the day, not better. i am so irritated and antsy. i miss my family and i want to clean my house. feeling so inspired one thing i enjoy about facebook is the old pictures that friends and fam upload to walk down memory lane together with you. remember when the weather was warm and we would go to the park when daddy got home from work? and we would bring homemade bread and fruit to eat for dinner? and we would be drenched in golden light? and the cousins would come meet us for some wild rides down the slide? seriously though, my closest friends are: fun, real and honest, good, entertaining, in love with life, a little crazy, down to earth, deep, and incapable of bs. cate chose these pretty little traditional valentines cards from bunny cakes. i love them. messes are piling up around me making it hard to relax and get well. i can't cuddle grant or cate- they need to stay well- so they are steering clear of me. i am bored and tired and achy. say hi to gilbert and the kids. with love, k.m. I'll show you what i've been working on soon- they're presents and i have to give them away first. have a nice monday! and then i found myself a mother. funny, i thought i'd teach awhile longer and have grant all to myself and save some money. one more thought about best friends... a little note for my valentine we lived on a corner in a typical o.c. tract neighborhood. she didn't want to print off her name- signing was a must. remember how i was so proud that my room was clean and i was knitting? well, i still am. different boyfriends came and went through all this, some i thought i could marry, some i was mad at myself for hanging around, some that broke my heart.
