We met in Jerusalem
- Jehudit Elkana, an Israeli activist who founded with two other
women Wachsom Watch to try to protect the Palestinians on the
checkpoints; she is presently member of Yesh Din, an organisation
that sues (with little success) the settlers and the soldiers
after acts of violence against Palestinians. Her husband was a famous
philosoph of science and a miraculous survivor of Auschwitz.
Jehudit told us that the attack of Israel on Gaza during July-August 2014
was
fully deliberate.
- Ali Jedda, a black Palestinian and citizen of the old city of
Jerusalem.
Ali's father was a Muslim from Senegal; he went to Jerusalem as a
pilgrim and stayed there. During the 80s, the Israelis made a
massacre somewhere, and as a revenge, Ali organized some kind of
bombing
where two Israelis got injured; he was caught and condemned to 17
years
of prison. He refused later to work for the Palestinian Authority to
keep
his freedom. He got children and says that presently he would not do
any bombing again, in particular considering
the risk of killing or injuring innocents.
Ali works by leading politic guided tours of the old city of
Jerusalem.
He made us remark in the Arab quarter that a provocative settler was
accompanied by two armed body-guards.
